We’d like you to meet Kristen Heffernan! With over 20 years of experience with highly regulated and technical product lines, Kristen is a master of sales and marketing enablement, managing by metrics, and operational planning & leadership in the tech industry.
We sat down to talk about the work she does today, team leadership advice, and Led Zeppelin!
What do you love most about your job?
This is my first time leading all the operational teams in a business, including sales. It’s a learning experience every day. I used to think I was a person driven by safe, organized, planned things, but in reality, I thrive on the unexpected and unknown. Every day, I’m trying to figure out the best path for something I’ve never done.
What’s the craziest sales feat you’ve pulled off in a pinch?
This is an interesting question because despite my experience in sales in a traditional sense, I think selling myself is something of a feat. Selling my marketing and sales skills to a cybersecurity firm that hired me to create and launch their new brand and content strategy.
What’s your greatest accomplishment so far in your career?
Definitely learning enough about public key infrastructure (PKI) to be considered cool enough to hang with the folks who truly understand it.
What’s the best team leadership advice you’d give?
Be a humble team lead! Give the people doing the work the credit.
If you were stuck on a desert island and had to listen to one band only, who would it be?
Led Zeppelin! Timeless, and an amazing range of discography. It never gets old. If I had to be stuck on a desert island, Led Zeppelin is the one band I could listen to for the rest of my life.
