Mini interview with Van Dalen developer and graphic designer, Ricky Darbey

What do you love most about your job?
Creating stuff! I enjoy that I get to solve problems by either creating something brand new or improving a current set up.
What web development project are you most proud of so far in your career?
MicroMd.com, while certainly not the most complex site I’ve made, it was an incredible transformation from what it was originally.

What are the most important things to consider from a development perspective when building out a new website?
The end goal. Most of the time people just say oh we need a website, but really we need to figure out what the website will ultimately do and what the expectations are of the end product.
What’s your biggest development pet peeve?
There’s a misconception that out of the box WordPress can efficiently handle any website need. It’s just not true. WordPress is amazing, but has limitations, and explaining that and overcoming them can be cumbersome.
If you could go back in time and have dinner with anyone from history, who would it be, and why?
Saul Bass, I think he’s a creative genius and would love to hear from him how he draws inspiration.
